Read Across America
In preparation for Dr. Seuss’ Birthday, I have constructed a package of fun activities that could be used in isolation or rotations. Three Pixie Seuss themed activities and a Horton Hears web activity provide great fun for lower elementary aged students.
Black History Projects
Mrs. Atkinson worked with her students in the month of February to develop Black History slide shows on famous African Americans. Students were given time to research their person of interest and then went to work creating slide shows using Keynote. A rubric helped guide them in making sure necessary elements were in their project. Way to go Mrs. Atkinson!!! Here are just a few examples of their awesome work!
Pixie Cycles
As preparation for their upcoming group project on cycles, students in Ms. Lange-McCarthy’s class practiced their skills by illustrating the butterfly life cycle. Students drew, added stickers and text, and learned other Pixie basics. More to come once each group’s project is complete!
Fun with Money!
Mrs. Bouton’s kindergarten students explored, practiced, and sorted money using Pixie. Students worked through several activities to get a better understanding of pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollars.

Take a look at the great package of money activities for kindergarten and 1st grade. Thanks to Stephanie Wright, Whitney Beck, and Jehan Gabrual for their contributions!
Gizmos
3rd through 5th grade teachers learn about Gizmos ~ A great resource for science and math!
A Great Start!
It all starts with learning the keyboard. Students in Mrs. Harkins’ kindergarten class used the shift key, space bar, and the delete key to familiarize themselves with each key’s job. All were working to type the alphabet, one upper case and one lower case of each letter. Students did an excellent job!
