Google Docs

Fifth graders at Glen Lea have been preparing for their writing tests by working on editing. What better way to do that than to look at some horrible writing? Students were put in to 4 groups to look at some of the worse examples of writing turned in to the Oregon Department of Education. Each group had a different style of writing. There was a narrative, expository, persuasive, and imaginative group. Each group was assigned the task of making the writing sample given to them better. Students had to use what they’ve been taught this year to achieve this task. This was a great way to watch students working together on one piece of writing. Google Docs provided the opportunity for all students to work at the same time and incorporate communication and collaboration. Without those two very important c’s, this assignment would not have been successful.
